The Owner's purchased a small parcel of land with a dilapidated house in an established neighborhood of moderately priced homes. The existing house was moved to another location, leaving a vacant lot on which to design.
The massing of the house was intentionally reduced to better fit in with the mostly one story, and smaller, homes in the neighborhood. The second floor is largely contained under the main roof, with dormers lighting the rooms. The main floor "rooms" are open to allow comfortable flow while entertaining guests. The Sunroom and second floor Rec Room overlook the golf course, just a few feet away. A detached Golf Cart Storage building, in the same vocabulary, resides between the driveway and the path leading to the golf course.
The materials mimic those used throughout the neighborhood - brick, synthetic stucco, and composition shingle and metal roofing. A highly visible composition viewed from the street consists of a series of simple columns, reinforcing the symmetrical nature of the house and supporting a traditional southern front porch.
